How do I set up a netted pool for superyacht on my property?

2026-08-19

A netted pool for a superyacht lets you drop straight off the swim platform into a contained, safe swimming area instead of drifting in open water. For owners who moor off their own waterfront home, this is the practical middle ground between a fixed pool and a bare swim step: the inflatable perimeter and fine anti-jellyfish mesh hold the water volume in place, keep sea lice and stingers out, and give you and your guests a clearly defined spot to swim beside the boat. With the right setup routine, you can launch one in under an hour without a crew.

What counts as a netted superyacht pool

In simple terms, it is a floating inflatable bucket. The surrounding wall and the walkable deck are built from drop-stitch or reinforced PVC tarpaulin, while the center and sides carry a fine safety net through which water flows freely but jellyfish and drifting debris cannot pass. Many owners pair one with a separate rigid platform so guests can step from the yacht, across the deck, and into the netted swim area. When you shop by function rather than brand, most of these are sold under the name inflatable yacht pool, and the netted styles are simply the safest of the group for open-water berths.

Step 1: Pick a protected spot on your property

Where you set the pool matters more than almost anything else. Work from your own dock, mooring, or a sheltered corner of your cove, and look for calm, reasonably shallow water with no strong current and no boat traffic cutting through it. On your property you have an advantage the open ocean does not: you can position the pool so the yacht sits between it and the wind. Check the tide table for your berth the first few times you deploy, and confirm there is enough clearance so the mesh never rests on rocks or a muddy bottom at low water.

Step 2: Lay out and inflate on the dock or deck

Bring the deflated unit ashore and unroll it on a clean, flat surface away from sharp edges and grit. Open every access valve, connect a high-capacity electric pump to your shore or yacht power, and inflate the wall chambers first, then the deck sections. Quality units use non-return valves, so you can work one chamber at a time without losing air while you move the hose. Stop once the walls feel firm and the deck is rigid enough to walk across without flexing. If you do not already own one, this is where a good air pump for pool floats earns its keep, since hand pumping a superyacht-sized enclosure is slow work.

Step 3: Launch it into the water

Once inflated, lift the whole unit from the edge of the dock or slide it gently off the swim platform. It floats immediately, so take it slow and keep a line on it the whole time so wind cannot push it away while you secure it. On a waterfront property an inflatable pool for yacht is easy to move where you want it: hold it alongside the dock, tow it out to the mooring, or tether it tight against the yacht before anyone gets in.

Step 4: Fit the netting and check entry points

If the mesh is separate, click or zip it into the tracks around the wall and tension it so there are no bulges and no gaps a small swimmer or a jellyfish could squeeze through. Confirm the entry opening lines up with your swim ladder or boarding step, and make sure there are grab handles within reach of anyone in the water. A correctly set net reaches down well below the waterline on every side, because its job is to trap and block, not just mark a boundary.

Step 5: Tie it securely to the yacht and dock

Use the stainless D-rings spaced along the perimeter to lash the pool to the yacht's cleats, to your dock posts, or to both. Run lines with a little slack so the pool can ride with small waves instead of fighting them, then add a weighted anchor bag or a lazy line if there is any drift at all. Tension the netting again after the lines are set, because the pool settles once it flexes against the water. A stable mount holds its shape in a light chop, whereas a loosely tethered pool will slowly rotate and put stress on the seams.

Step 6: Test, then make it a routine

Before letting anyone in, walk the whole perimeter, check the pressure in every chamber, and give the docking lines a firm tug. Once you have done it twice, the routine settles: inspect the pump, unroll, inflate, launch, fit the net, tie off, and test takes most people under an hour. After each swim, rinse the unit with fresh water to clear salt and debris, dry it fully before packing so mold cannot take hold, and keep the repair kit and spare valves aboard for the small punctures that eventually happen.

When to take it custom

Off-the-shelf netted pools suit most berths, but superyachts are rarely off-the-shelf, and neither are the coves they live in. If your swim platform has an unusual shape, your dock sits in an area with strong tidal range, or you simply want the mesh color and size to match your vessel, look for an inflatable yacht pool manufacturer that drafts a 3D design before production and builds to your dock dimensions and site conditions. That way the netted pool you set up on your property fits the first time, holds in the conditions it will actually meet, and delivers the safe, contained swimming area you planned for.
